Stories from Outer Space

Kick off summer reading and the summer solstice with a puppet show by Sparky Davis. Watch the adventures of a space traveler who makes a rocket ship, the Aesop’s Fable “The Sun and the Wind”, and space aliens who visit the earth. All ages welcome!

THE LEGO MOVIE 2 and LEGO Space Rockets

Wed., June 26th, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Design a space rocket out of LEGOs and watch THE LEGO MOVIE 2.

Make a Telescope

Wed., July 3rd, 1:00 – 2:00 PM

Decorate a telescope that you can really use to view the stars.

Constellation Stories of the First Americans

Meet NASA Solar System Ambassador Geoff MacLean and hear star stories of the First Americans.

Space Jewelry

Zip Lines with the Science Center

Wednesday, July 31st, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Join the CT Science Museum as you investigate how to help astronauts with zip lines. Create a way to get back to the ground from the space shuttle as quickly and safely as possible.

GIANT Map Encounter

Wed., August 7th 11:00 AM-12:00 PM

Meet National Geographic educator Megan Jacobs and experience the wonders of the state of CT.  Reenact historic battles, map out land forms, and have fun!

Ice Cream Social

Celebrate the last week of summer reading at the annual ice cream party!

Shadow, the certified therapy dog who regularly visits the Chaplin Elementary School, will be visiting the library throughout the summer. Shadow is an American Cocker Spaniel who loves to have children read to him. Sign up for a slot to read to him.

Pre-registration is requested, but walk-ins are welcome if Shadow has time available.
